Tonight, in Woodlake, there will be an interesting meeting of the Tulare County Board of Supervisors (BOS) regarding the California Foothills Legacy Area (CFLA). Location: Woodlake City Council Chambers, 350 North Valencia Boulevard, Woodlake CA Date/Time: September 10th, 2013 at 7pm The CFLA program promises to bring millions of dollars generated from fees from off-shore oil drilling and invest them into the local ranching economy through the purchase of conservation easements. The Tulare BOS, seemingly incongruously, is seeking citizen approval to submit a letter refusing these funds for its own ranchers. The conversation this evening promises to be ideological, and perhaps empassioned, around issues of "property rights," conservation and the role of government.
