Tonight is Halloween and weve got a scary tale to tell... Did you know that Lewis Leathers jackets are made in the Whitechapel district in the East End of London - the haunting ground of the infamous ghastly murderer Jack the Ripper... aka Leather Apron? Early on in the investigations into the mysterious Whitechapel Murderer who took five female victims in the autumn of 1888, the suspect on everyones lips was a shoemaker known locally as Leather Apron. To this day, nobody knows for certain who this person actually was (more than one person has been connected with this nickname) but it is possible that a zealous journalist had beefed up the story as police were giving the press little to work on. As well as some macabre newspaper cuttings and a Leather Apron wanted poster from the time, we have included here a fascinating and atmospheric set of photos of the murder locations, taken in 1965. And in case anyone dares to connect Lewis Leathers with any of the bloody crimes, we should point out that D Lewis were not making clothes until 4 years later in 1892... at least not under that name! Happy Halloween folks, and if Whitechapel proves too daunting for you today then head for the more comforting Lewis Leathers shop in central London where you can get measured-up for an exquisite new leather jacket... a Super Phantom No. 443 perhaps? bit.ly/LLSuperPhantom443 #Halloween #JackTheRipper
