Tonight is an evening of deep and offish thought, and random contimplation...... A concert pianist takes the stage: dressed all in black, walking into the circle of golden light, slightly hunched forward under the applause, scuttling with single-minded purpose toward the waiting, looming concert grand. Tonight, I am here to experience music, to hear the sounds the fingers make when they touch the keys, to hear the bows resonate with a rainbow of heavenly vibrations, the kettles pounding substance and bottom, the brass piercing the air with stinging clarity, Im here to hear the means by which a composer’s music is given... life. I have come with purpose, to be utterly absorbed by this experience, which expands in the mind of all of my senses in one glorious and harmonious climax..........
