Tonight my daughter and I were watching a movie and I heard a loud noise coming from the garage and immediately thought it was the furnace. I completely panicked and peeked out in the garage but was afraid to go out there. Wasnt sure what to do so Melissa told me to call the Vestal Fire Dept. They advised me to turn off power to the furnace and then they said they would send the Fire Chief. I told Melissa we needed to get out of the house as I had visions of it blowing up from the gas. I grabbed my purse and a bottle of water. Melissa grabbed her camera, computer, passport and a bottle of wine. We sat outside for 25 minutes until the Fire Chief showed up. He looked in the garage and then checked the fuse box to make sure I turned the right switch off. He went back in the garage and still couldnt figure out where this very loud (and scary) noise was coming from. He walked over to a box on the floor and opened it up and there was my gas leak,,,screaming static blasting from the speaker system that the TCRC owns...and had been used at the race that afternoon. For some reason it turned on and I thought it was the furnace. Can I say I have not been that embarrassed in many, many years?? Kudos to the Vestal Fire Chief who made me feel like I shouldnt feel TO embarrassed.#homeownerfail
