Tonight my grandmother passed away. She was the only grandparent of mine I ever met. She was the only influence I had from the days before my parents, and she was enough. A little 5 foot nothin, Italian woman, with a whole lotta spunk, and a little white fro. She was an incredible woman who had an extremely rough upbringing and an unmatched work ethic, someone who was rough around the edges, with a heart for people and relationship. She was family oriented, and intentionally involved in my life. She was proud of me on a level Im not sure Ill ever fathom. Her and I were the two with light colored eyes, and fair skin in the family, that was our bond. And while living in Boston and Dallas the past 10 years, away from home, I havent been able to be around her as much as Id like. Im going to miss Nan.
