Tonight my heart is saddened by the passing of a hero of mine, a spiritual father, a legend, and a man of God, Andrae Crouch. In 1974, when I came into the Kingdom after a massive experience with Christ in the street, I longed for spiritual music and songs that would transform me. A friend gave me a record of Andrae Crouch - Live in Carnegie Hall and from that moment my life was changed. Influenced by his utter freedom to flow in the Holy Spirit, my musical expression was formed and I thank God that He sent this anointed songwriter, pianist, psalmist, and minister into my life. In the nineties, while Michael Jackson was recording his History album, Andrae asked me to accompany him to the studio where he and Sandra were conducting the choir. I was honored to be a part of that, meet Michael Jackson, pray, and prophesy in the studio. When Andrae introduced me, he used these words, This is a prophet of this age.” Andrae always encouraged and inspired others to use their gift to reach the lost with the pure sound they (only) carried. One Sunday morning a few months ago, I was compelled by the Holy Spirit to go to his church and minister to him. I delivered a word from the Spirit of God that before his death he had one more very special impartation he must impart to a generation, a gift of sorts that he had not previously shared. This will continue throughout the generations...for his music was not just music, but an art of timeless sound. Andrae, you will live forever in the hearts of humanity for you were created and formed to raise up a sound that will never die. I love you and we, the warriors of God along with my family, salute you. Sandra and the precious family and friends, we love you and pray for God’s presence to be with you during this time.
