Tonight, residents across our country celebrate National Night out. America’s “night out against crime.” Every year, we set aside the first Tuesday in August to raise awareness about police programs, neighborhood watch initiatives, and other anti-crime efforts. It’s a great opportunity for residents to meet their neighbors, to join our community watch program, and to learn how you can be a part of building a ‘safer Carteret.’ Even if you haven’t registered, you can participate tonight at dusk by grabbing a lawn chair or a spot on the porch, a cold glass of water or a coffee, and sitting outside with the exterior lights on and keeping an eye on your house and your neighborhood. Be sure to invite a neighbor, family, and friends.
