Tonight the Rosewood Park development was approved by Regina City - TopicsExpress

Tonight the Rosewood Park development was approved by Regina City Council. Shawn Fraser voted against it citing public transportation, and community planning concerns, and ODonnell voted no because of scheduling, and the approval process. This is troubling because the council members that are for this project have cited the current lack of public transit, and essential services like grocery stores in many Regina neighbourhoods as a reason why we shouldnt worry that there are no plans to include them in a new development that will include low-income, and senior living complexes. It is also troubling that Fougere says this is not in violation of the Official Community Plan because its part of Coopertown, which has not yet been approved by council... What the hell? How do you justify citing known deficiencies in order to keep making the same mistakes? There are also neighbourhoods where everyones basements flood every spring. Instead of incorporating proper drainage into new development (and dealing with the problems in the old neighbourhoods), we had best make sure that everyone has to deal with a shitty mess. Also, lumping this development in with the so far unapproved Coopertown is asinine. I cant wait for Fougere to say Well we already have the Rosewood Park development on the go. We have to approve Coopertown now. Which developer is he going to go work for once his term is up?
