Tonight was tough. Unlike last week which featured a successful (and long running) breakaway this weeks race was just one attack after another. For the first 20 minutes or so a new attack was launched every 2 or so laps but nothing managed to stick. With about 15 minutes to go the attacks started to become even more frequent with sometimes 2 attacks occurring on a single lap. While each break attempt would usually get 50m clear it would eventually get to the long corner and encounter the headwind and the peloton would soon bridge the gap. So it came down to the manic fight down the back stretch for position into the final corner. Went through the corner in 4th but unfortunately dropped a few positions to finish in 6th. Not unexpected as I was totally buggered from trying to establish breaks throughout the race. The strategy involved in these races is one of the most interesting things about racing this style of race. Every week is different and it is no longer just about how strong you are like a triathlon or a run :)
