Tonights 10pm newscast will be my last at KLBK. I cannot begin to - TopicsExpress

Tonights 10pm newscast will be my last at KLBK. I cannot begin to explain how bizarre it is just typing those words. A few months after I moved to Lubbock, I adopted my dog Bear. He was six weeks old. Hell be 11 years old this Christmas. In other words, Ive been here a long time. And its been absolutely wonderful. My wife Julie (who, secret be told, anchors evenings on KAMC) and I are leaving for California, where we will continue our careers in Fresno. It was not an easy decision. We are leaving many great friends behind, and a city that we both love. Theres no guarantee that the next phase will be as joyous, as rewarding, and as successful as what we have here and now. But sometimes, I think growth requires risk. And as Julie put it earlier, it was now or never. I hope you understand. I want to thank all of you for making this Colorado kid feel like a West Texan. Your words of support and encouragement throughout the years have not fallen on deaf ears. Theres a reason people who move to Lubbock have a tough time leaving: its easy to love to live here. Id also like to thank my colleagues at KLBK. Its a special family, and always will be. I can promise that they will replace me with a person that youll be happy to watch on weeknights. Theres a good chance youll even like him more! So feel free to watch tonight for my last newscast. Im sure my co-workers will find some way to embarrass me. As they should.
