Tonights Devotion From the Couch Romans 12:2 Amplified Version Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. Quick Thoughts 1- God is telling me to paddle my little boat upstream rather than to go with the flow of the current that seems to be rushing over the side of the cliff in the form of a waterfall we call modern pop culture 2- the only thing that can transform my mind and renew it is Gods Word 3- the purpose of renewing my mind with Gods word is to shake off the worlds influence on my mind and give me the ability to discern Gods perfect will for my life that I might conform to it instead of the world. 4- God has a perfect will for my life. 5- I either know His perfect will for my life or I do not! 6- if I do not yet know His perfect will for my life then the logic contained in this passage of scripture dictates that my mind is not yet renewed by Gods word in order to know what that perfect will is. 7- if my mind is not renewed enough to know Gods perfect will for my life, then I am still too conformed to the World and blinded by its influence 8- logical conclusion - Anyone who would like to have a clearer grasp of Gods purpose for their life would profit from spending more time in Gods Word renewing their mind and less time allowing themselves to be pressed into the mold which society and popular culture attempts to blind and press us into through its media machine of postmodern pluralistic humanistic pragmatic propaganda.
