++ Tony / Update++ It is with a heavy heart that I must share the sad news of the passing of Tony. Just a few days ago Tony was a very sick stray dog that was alone on a cold shelter floor. Peggy Fucillo of Kittie Connection Rescue didnt want to see Tony suffering from his illness along and unwanted so Saturday she picked him up and brought him to one of the best animal hospitals in New England. Tony was diagnosed with advanced Lyme Disease and since Tony had no one, Peggy wanted to be that person to show him love what love felt like in his short remaining time. Peggy opened a Care Credit line and told the hospital to do what they could to give him that opportunity. The staff at Angell Memorial fell in love with Tony and were pulling for him. The vet was optimistic because when he came in he was eating and his kidneys were stable. But yesterday, he stopped eating, his pancreas was swollen and his kidney function dropped. He lost most, if not all of his energy and could barely walk. He was in pain and due to the drastic decline of his organ functions he wasnt going to get better. After doing EVERYTHING they could possibly do for Tony there was no way he could be saved nor live without pain. Peggy, who once envisioned giving Tony a happy and healthy run now had to make an even harder decision but it was the proper decision for Tony. She took him outside and over to a patch of green grass. They enjoyed the beautiful sunny day together and she far him one last walk over the rainbow bridge. In his last few moments he in no more pain and finally at peace. We are all crushed knowing Tony didnt have nearly the life all dogs deserve but we hope that in his last 2 days he felt the love from ALL of us, including YOU and was comforted by this. Tony was a special pup and we are sad that we couldnt do more for him. After reducing the fund goal to $2,000 and in order to make sure Peggy doesnt take a (personal) financial hit we ask that you help us to collect funds on her behalf. Peggys heart is huge and as a thank you wed like to make sure her kindness does not result in a financial burden as well as give her time to grieve this dog she opened her heart to. Yesterday was a very emotional and difficult day for us and we apologize that we couldnt update you with Tonys passing in a more timely manner. With that being said we would respectfully refund the donations you made after his passing if you do not want them to be applied to the $1,900+ current balance (fund link below) on his medical expenses. Please keep in mind that the money weve raised so far (currently listed as $1,030) will be applied to his bill as well as his cremation so that Peggy can continue to show him the love he never had.
