Too many MMA fighters seem to look at fighting as some sort of video game, wherein improvement is defined by the number and variety of techniques you throw. Junior Dos Santos was told he needed to add something to his game after losing to Cain, and he and his team decided that elbows were the missing tool. Where were the fundamentals? Junior didnt need more moves, he needed to know how to put himself in the right place to use those moves. Up against the fence was not that place, and yes Cigano showed no initiative to move himself to a better position, time after time. That was a great fight, but a frustrating one as well. I hope that Junior Dos Santos learns the real lesson this time: fighting is not about what you do, but how you do it.
