Too many ppl in BG say the chalga and the dancehall - TopicsExpress

Too many ppl in BG say the chalga and the dancehall Jamaican/Caribbean music are similar; they call the latter American chalga and random shit of a kind...Not that somebody should care but I think its partly because of low inteligence and unknowing of the history of Jamaican music and Jamaica itself. Contemporary dancehall music/movement/culture, in my opinion, historically is a product of at least 2 independent traditional styles, brought to Caribbean and especially to Jah by 2 different nations. Firstly, of course, are the Africans and their musical heritage, common for most of the Bantu ppl south of Sahara, and it is known by everyone. However, the second nation is not so popular and it is no other but...the Indians! I mean the India Indians not the American, these who are often called Gypsies by the Bulgarians. Twas a common pratice for the British empire (in 19th century) to attract Indian settlers to its vast colonies. Ar. 300 000 indians were settled in Jah and they brought with them their culture, cuisine and, of course, music. And their traditional music is, I believe, very similar to what the Bulgarians know as chalga. A hypothesis born in my mind explains satisfiably the appearance of the Dancehall as mix of these Afrian and Asiatic traditional musical styles. And that, again in my opinion, do not turn dem into shameful or lower or something like that but is an enhancement of the both styles. So, even if you find some of the Dancehall songs similar to chalga and that makes you despiseem, remember that it is actually an unique symbiosis between African and Asian cultural heritage, the Tropics around the world where people really know how to have fun and to get the maximum of the pleasures of live. I sincerely admire and appreciate the fact I have become familiar with this style when it was probably most powerful and influencing in the world, US and West Europe e.g. Greets for all of you who dont feel ashamed by the fact they listen and like the beautiful Dancehall music! https://youtube/watch?v=3HHr0qNcq10
