Too much of anything or any practice, such as yoga asana (postures), done without careful attention to individual needs can lead to injury that can last forever. Due to the way yoga was introduced to the U.S. and to the particularities of our culture and fitness culture, yoga has become a group activity. While classes can be valuable and an excellent learning tool, classes are classes and practice is practice. When in class, remember, its your body and your practice, a teacher is merely a guide. When practicing at home, meet yourself on the mat, not an idea of yourself or what youd like to be, but actually yourself. Practice with care.
