Took Abbie to the vet this afternoon for her booster and while I was there asked why her eyes are always weeping with result, the fur in the corners of her eyes, is stained brown. She suggested doing a test to see if she was producing too many tears (not how she put it but thats what she meant). So she took out what looked like a tiny measuring tape and placed the end of it inside Abbies lower lid and held it there. Abbie was so good and didnt move. While she held it there you could see it changing colour to blue as it soaked up her tears. She did both eyes and said she was overproducing tears and suggested anti-inflammmatory drops. Has anyone else come across this as I have never heard of it and neither of our previous Retrievers had this. Abbie did have an eye infection a few weeks ago but that cleared up with ointment from the vet, but the watery eyes were there long, long before the infection.
