Took an easy day today. Emptied and pulled my minnow and crayfish traps. I will place them in a new section another day. The minnow and crayfish haul were released into my second pond. It is small but crystal clear in a shady glen of willows, honey locust, red cedar and persimmon trees. Its a magical little hideaway, there is watercress and some other aquatic plant that grows beneath the water. I hope they do well in this body of pure spring water. The huge frogs that live there seem happy and productive. Then I ended up buying twelve pale and near featherless battery hens in a rescue situation. Poor things. I know they will eventually be very happy here. For now they are spending their two week quarantine in the garage with the hay and my kitty. They are filthy and look terrible but are well fed, just have never lived a normal life. Now they will! Sunshine, fresh grass and plenty of room to roam is coming their way soon.
