Took the girls to Old Harmony Cemetery today and showed them where all the Stephens family is laid to rest. As I walk upon my granny and granddaddys grave the tears begin to pour out uncontrollably thinking about my dad. i took my hand an kissed it an placed it on their head stone and softly said granddaddy how did it feel to have your son come home on your birthday? Haley said what do you mean? I told her that my dad died on his dads birthday and he went to heaven to be with his mom and dad on his dads birthday. One by one as we came upon the head stones of the Stephens and the McCoys and the Morgans which at this point Haley knew where her middle name came from (Morgan). I told them what I knew about each one. I have the cd of the Stephens Quartet singing the gospel music. I tired to tell them who was singing. Charlie, Chunck, Florence and the others. They ask where my great grandfathers dad was buried I know his name to be Elijah but I dont know where he is buried. They asked About Percy and Alice . They were amazed that I have my great grandmother Alices mantel clock. They were even more amazed to learn that Percy was Cherokee. I showed them Fred and Frances and told Haley I was pregnant with her when great uncle Fred passed away. Sad to see uncle Burt still has no head stone. One by one Haley took pictures of the head stones and I promised we would try to find Percys dads grave. I was thinking he maybe buried in Georgia or Murphysboro Tn. She wants to do and Ancestry paper so thats what we will do. Yes, I will travel to find the Graves of the rest of our family for I to am curious to know more about my family. I know at the point of Percy we were adopted by the Stephens. Because Percy was Cherokee raised by the Stephens. So I guess our journey begins. I know Ill never find our Cherokee ancestors but I have hope with finding the Stephens.
