Took the trip to Vail while living in a house in W. Henrietta, NY - TopicsExpress

Took the trip to Vail while living in a house in W. Henrietta, NY with my Hicksville band, the Hadrian Decree. The young ladys brother, eventually my first wife, Linda, lived in an octagonal house on the side of a mountain. Couldnt get to it with my Falcon, had to switch to a 4 wheel drive International that would almost flip over backwards it was so steep. The house had no running water and a ditch around it which served as...well, you can guess, and which they had a sheet of plywood over to traverse the journey from the house to land. So Linda and I had a disagreement as to how long we should stay...no food (except what I ate while washing dishes), no money...she stormed out the the house and slipped on the plywood bridge and fell head first into the ditch. She clawed her way out of the ditch, covered in a variety of human refuse and finally decided she wanted to leave also. Checked the water jugs but they were empty... there was no water to clean her up. While tempted to leave her there in her smelly predicament, I trudged 1/2 mile up the side of the mountain with 2 5 gal. water jugs to a neighbor. So we leave Vail...also learned a valuable lesson about automotive mechanics...dont get a tune up at the top of the Rockies then descent down to drive across the Great Plains...Chicago, Lake Shore Drive...car bucking and stalling...decide to find a girl I dated while life guarding at Cantiaque Park who moved to Northbrook, IL just north of Chicago. Putted my way there and tried to call...friggin unlisted number...Linda, who wasnt too happy since being submerged in excrement, really started to chastise me...but I kept saying Keep the Faith. With that in mind, I drove up to some Catholic Church, went to the Rectory and asked if they happened to know the family...the priest said wait a minute came back out and, Praise the Lord, gave me the phone number and address of the family who was now waiting for me and had breakfast made when I arrived. Ended up needing a valve job on the engine, which cost $80 cash, but having left NY with only $10 and my Moms Mobil Credit Card, I finally called home and they wired me $100. Finally, got back to my house in W. Henrietta, walk through the door and hear a yell and a loud crash. Two girls from the neighbor, one who had a mad crush on our drummer, Billy Kozak, had sneaked into our house to go through Billys belongings. Unfortunately, they also wanted to surprise Billy by cleaning the house and had waxed the stairs up to our bedrooms, just a side note...dont wax the steps on stairs. Soooo,,,when I walked in they were startled, tried to run down the stairs and one slipped and fell from the top, landing in severe pain at the bottom. Ended up rushing her to the hospital because she had broken her leg...and this is the edited version of the trip.
