Top 5 reasons Vikings were awesome: 5) They had a separate afterlife for those who were in love. The Viking warrior could still done and hunt with the Einherjer even if they had the proverbial "hut on a lush hill" afterlife. 4) Their afterlife ends. As far as I know they are the only group of people who believed the afterlife was not eternal. 3) Disillusion makes people believe the Vikings were unclean party hard people. However, they had to be extreme clean in order to avoid the spread of sickness in a frozen land. They still partied. 2) They crossed incredible expanses of water in an incredibly long rowboat. Some were bigger and had a lower hold but the earliest Viking explorers had a flat bottom boat and made it to and from the Americas and Iceland. 1) The bearskin clad berzerker was a group of societal outcast that would pound down handfuls of a poisonous mushroom that made them fairly invincible, albeit insane. Oftentimes they sank their own boats before reaching the shoreline. They rarely survived battles as they did not defend themselves well or would die of exhaustion.
