Good luck, gentleman, you do Chicago proud! Chicago Teachers Union president, Karen Lewis is exploring whether to challenge Mayor Emanuel in the Mayoral election in February. She says there is a 50/50 chance she will run. There is a hostage situation going on in Harvey since last night when a surprised burgler shot two police officers. Both officers are recovering at home while two children and two women are held in a home off 147th. Street and Seely. Four children were released but two remain hostage. Gaza militants began firing rockets into Israel with three hours left in the cease fire, Israel retaliated firing missiles into Gaza, killing three Palestinians including a child. In Ferguson, Mo. the parents of Michael Brown, the 18 year old unarmed man shot by a white police officer on August 9th. sparking rioting, have asked that people stop the violence. State police claim outside parties are bringing the unrest, shooting, looting and vandalism to this St. Louis suburb. Early next year be on the look out for McDonalds brand coffee in supermarkets. The Oak Brook based chain is following Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts in the coffee wars to make at home a coffee you enjoy while out...they are even redesigning their to go cups at their restaurants to be more attractive for those that like to walk around with their coffee. Many of the Archdiocesan of Chicago schools are headed back to their first day of school today, including, St. Nicholas of Tolentine, at 3741 West 62nd Street, where my grandson attends...full uniform for a full day of classes.
