Top athletes celebrated at sports banquet The annual Chronicle sports banquet will be held Friday, May 16, at the College of Central Florida Citrus campus in Lecanto. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m., with the awards program to follow at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Citrus County Chronicle offices in Crystal River and Inverness and are $10. The top athletes in the county will be celebrated during the evening. The Players of the Year in each sport will be announced, as well as the male and female Will Bleakley MVP Award winners, the male and female Athletes of the Year, the male and female Scholar Athletes of the Year and the winners of the online Reader’s Choice Awards. To vote for your favorite athlete, go to chronicleonline, click on the “Features” tab, scroll down to “Enter a Contest” and then click on the “Athlete of the Year” photo to go to the voting page. You must register to the website to vote.
