Top civil and police officials visit HAWS camp; ‘All the accused under army custody, police not to take FIR back’ Ganderbal: With regards to army attack on cops, civilians and police station in Sonamarg, a joint team of top administrative and police officials visited High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) Nilgrath, Sonamarg camp on Monday and interacted with the army officials there. Reports said that a team of administrative and police officials led by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Sarmad Hafeez had a thorough discussion with the army officials on the recent incident where army personnel thrashed cops and civilians and even fired upon police station Sonamarg. Reliable sources told CNS that army officials requested the police brass to treat the FIR in this incident as null and void, however, sources said that a top police official refused to acknowledge the request of army and instead asked them to face the court once Police presents the challan before the court of law. Confirming it, DC Ganderbal Sarmad Hafeez told CNS that whatever requires to be done with regard to the unfortunate incident will be done. “Law will take its own course and a thorough investigation is going on to ascertain the facts,” he said there is no question of compromise. Deputy Inspector General of Police, Central Kashmir Range, Afhadul Mujtaba told CNS that police did not acknowledge the request of Army to take the FIR back. “We simply told them to face the court once police presents the challan,” he said. Superintendent of Police Ganderbal told CNS that all the accused are in Army custody. “We released the two arrested army men after proper procedure. The accused are in Army custody and the arm is enquiring the matter,” he said. Pertinently, a case vide FIR vide number 31/2014 under section 307,392,353,147,148,452 stands registered against High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) Nilgrath army personnel for attacking cops, civilians and snatching a rifle from the police station Sonamarg in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday.
