Topic: Live a Holy Life Text: Numbers 22: 6-12 An important way a child of God can triumph without fight is to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord. To be holy is to separate; there should be a clear cut demarcation between the lifestyle of a believer and the way the ungodly lives. A believer who lives carelessly or sinfully cannot please God. Whenever God was not pleased with the way of life of the children of Israel, He does not fight for them, rather He fights against them. When the children of Israel encamped in the boarders of Moab and Balak the king Moab was aware; he was afraid because of their number and their antecedent in battles. Thus he hired Baalam, a sorcerer to curse them. He hoped that the curse would weaken the army of Israel and therefore render them vulnerable. Notice the objective of Balak for wanting to curse Israel: to prevail over Israel, to smite them and to drive them away from the land. Meanwhile the Children of Israel were not aware of this; so the army of Israel had no premonition of any impending battle, they were just rejoicing and relaxing in their camps. If Balak and Balaam had succeeded with their sinister agenda, Moab would have manipulated the army Israel with sorcery and overrun the nation. God did not allow the enchantments of the enemies of his people to prosper when iniquity was not found in them; anything contending with your holiness is fighting your victory, but the tide turned in the opposite direction when the Children of Israel were engaged in immorality and idolatry, God himself became their enemy. A plague broke out in the camp and killed about twenty four thousand people (Numbers 25: 6-11) As you can see, the same Israel who prevailed without fight when her camp was pure now became a victim because of sinfulness. Similarly when a Christian begins to live in sin, he becomes vulnerable to the enemy; his spiritual defense becomes very porous. So as a child of God you must not let your garment be soiled with any form of sin so that you can remain on top of your enemy and situation Prayer Points 1. Dear Heavenly father, I thank you because my name is connected to you 2. Oh lord, forgive me of all wrong thoughts, word and actions 3. Give me the grace to choose what is right and go for it 4. Heal me from the effect of negative thoughts by your blood 5. Today, give me the spirit of obedience.
