Topic: SEARCHING FOR THE UBIQUITOUS? CHARISMATIC HOUR - NOVEMBER 13 2013 Text: Job 23:1-10 SEARCHING FOR THE UBIQUITOUS? The word ubiquitous means present everywhere especially present everywhere at the same time. There are times in the life of a man when the obvious looks unreal; it appears that erstwhile friends have become foes; Divine promises that were real appear to be figments of human imagination; testimonies of Gods doings by others will sound like some cock-and-bull story being told or on another hand raise a suggestion of Gods partiality! It will appear to the one that such a condition has come to stay. Such was the case of Job when overwhelmed by the crushing power of afflictions of the flesh and soul; and before his visitors he cried out oh that I knew where to find Him (God). We shall draw some lessons from the lamentation of Job as we consider the following subheadings: (A) The Agony of a Godly Man (B) The Appropriate Attitude at Challenging times (A) THE AGONY OF A GODLY MAN The records of the scriptures witnessed Job to be a godly man (Job 1:1-2, 4-5). And one would expect that such God fearing persons who hold God in great esteem should always enjoy the blessings of God without interruption (cons. 1Sam. 2:30; Ps. 35:27; Pro. 10:6,22; 28:20). But such is usually not the case in this world filled with wickedness, as the Lord does permit the enemy to interrupt (under His supervision) so as to elevate the righteous (cons. Job 1:8-12; 42:12; Rom. 8:28; 1Pet. 1:7; 4:12). The believer is expected to have this knowledge and make provision for the day of trial or evil day. Job was oblivious of this truth and as a result suffered more emotional tumour than the condition should have normally generated, leading to some statements of ignorance being made by him (cons. Job. 38:1-4; 40:1-10; 42:1-6). Now, though Job was absolutely ignorant of the fundamental cause of his plight, he however, had knowledge of what should be done by a properly illuminated man who encounters such challenges. (B) THE APPROPRIATE ATTITUDE AT CHALLENGING TIMES The Lord left Job ignorant of the discourse that transpired in the spirit realm so also to unveil more lessons to the coming generations (Rom. 15:4). Job knew what to do when faced with formidable challenge. These we shall briefly glance through. i. Make contact with the Lord (Job 23: 1-3). ii. Order cause right with arguments (Job 23:4; Isa. 1:18; Hos. 14:2). iii. Listen attentively for Divine response (Job 23:5) iv. Be expectant of positive resolution (Job. 23:6; 19:25-26; Mk. 11:24). v. Be ever determined to be victorious (Job 23:10). When these steps are taken, victory is guaranteed. Testimonies are bound to follow; and the glory of the latter house shall be greater than the former. (Job ; Haggai 2:9). Lets rise to pray.
