Tort reform and job creation on for discussion today. While it is - TopicsExpress

Tort reform and job creation on for discussion today. While it is in the context of Mississippi, this is a Kentucky issue. Why? Republicans are planning to flip the house in Kentucky. Should that happen (Republican governance in the Commonwealth) . . . tort reform is the first issue on the agenda. To the issue this morning. Mississippi has the highest unemployment rate in the United States. That seems almost impossible. In 2004 MS passed sweeping tort reform that promised an economic miracle in the Magnolia state. Gov. Barbour said in 2005 of his prized tort reform initiative: Suddenly, the dark clouds over Mississippi’s future parted and the forecast brightened for business wishing to locate or expand operations in Mississippi. And yet 10 years later in 2014 . . . Mississippis economy remains broken. As best I can tell, the citizens of MS made a bad bargain. They traded their civil jury rights for the promise of job creation. All they got in return was the loss of the civil jury rights. There werent any jobs. How fast will Kentucky replicate the MS miracle should we decide to flip the house? And is that a good idea?
