The story of the Dunnes Store strike in 1984, when Mary Manning a 21 year old worker at Dunnes Stores in Henry Street, Dublin refused to register the sale of an Outspan grapefruit under a directive from her union in support of the anti-apartheid struggle and the boycott of South African produce in Ireland. She and ten other workers who supported her action were suspended from work with immediate effect and a strike ensued. This documentary explores this historic strike and the struggles that strikers had with their own union, the Church and the Government in fighting for their principles.
