Totally and completely insane for lovable Jon Favreaus new movie called Chef. Went to the pre-screen last night for this food filled movie at Alamo Drafthouse Kansas City, my favorite theater in Kansas City, where they plied us with BBQ items from their new menu as we watched Chef which destined to become an absolute SIN industry classic flick. We are still waiting for an official release date, but YOU CANNOT miss this one when it hits theaters near you. Reasons to love this movie is as long as your prep list, my Chef friends. It has all the stuff that will either sink or swim a Chefs life. Loyal crew, FOH/BOH dynamics, owner issues, commercial kitchens build outs, farmers markets, Ex-husbands and Ex-wives, girlfriends/boyfriends, kids, parenthood, food critics, social media highs and lows, epic You Tube melt-downs by the Chef, PR recovery, food trucks, passion for doing your food, road trips and at the end of it all . . .family. Look at the cast: Jon Faverau plays The Chef, Robert Downey Jr. as the douche Ex-husband of his Ex-wife, John Leguizamo as his Sous Chef for Life, Scarlett Johansson as the hostess and post-shift hook-up (dream on, guys), Dustin Hoffman as the owner that wants to serve chocolate molten lava cake FOREVER, Oliver Platt at the perfect food critic and Sofia Vergara as the mother of Chefs son and his Ex-wife that really wants the best for her Ex and her son.
