Tottenham 0 vs 1 Arsenal Fc - Played 90′ + 5 - Szczesny takes the free kick and its all over! Arsenal do the double over Tottenham, with yet another 1-0 win. 90′ + 5 - Tottenham send ball after ball into the box, but Mertesacker and Koscielny deal with every one of them. Soldado commits a foul and that will surely do it now! 90′ + 4 - Yellow Card - Roberto Soldado (Tottenham) 90′ + 3 - Yellow Card - Danny Rose (Tottenham) 90′ + 3 - Another inexcusable mistake! Kaboul goes in with his elbow into Monreal, who had just headed the ball back into the possession of Tottenham. Instead its a free kick for Arsenal with time winding down. 90′ + 2 - Well Tottenham have a chance now, winning a corner kick. Sigurdsson whips in the cross, Monreal heads straight into the air and Szczesny comes out to collect. Meanwhile Danny Rose picks up a yellow out as he takes down Giroud out of frustration. Silly challenge as it allows Arsenal to kill valuable time off the clock. 90′ - Four minutes of added time... 89′ - Adebayor tries a curling effort! He steps just inside the box and tries to pick out the far corner, but Szczesny dives over to save and hold on to prevent any chances on the rebound. 88′ - Tim Sherwood losing his cool a bit now on the touchline. Arsenal win a throw, and Sherwood throws the ball at the defender. The players didnt take too kindly to that as they come over and have some choice words for the Spurs manager. Les Ferdinand is up now as well and talking to the Arsenal players. Things eventually settle down as Sherwood wastes some of his own teams time. 87′ - Mayhem! Szczesny just beats a ball out of the box, when it looked very dangerous for Arsenal. Bentaleb follows up but has his volley blocked. The Gunners break on what looks like a threatening counter attack, but a Vertonghen foul stops the move. 85′ - Substitution Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal Fc) 85′ - Final substitution of the match now, as Arsene Wenger brings Thomas Vermaelen on to see this one out. Six defenders on now for Arsenal with the inclusion of Vermaelen and Monreal. 84′ - STAT ATTACK: Arsenal have not won in five league visits to White Hart Lane (D2, L3). Their last victory came in September on 2007, with current Spurs player Emmanuel Adebayor scoring twice for the Gunners in a 3-1 win. 82′ - Substitution Christian Eriksen Roberto Soldado (Tottenham) 82′ - The change does come now, but rather surprisingly its Christian Eriksen who gives way. The playmaker is off now for Tottenham, and you just wonder if that was the right decision from Tim Sherwood, as he tries anything to avoid another defeat against a top four team. 81′ - Arsenal push forward in possession, wasting valuable Tottenham time as they play along the sidelines. Meanwhile, Roberto Soldado looks primed to come on here for Spurs. 80′ - Yellow Card - Mathieu Flamini (Arsenal Fc) 80′ - Surprise, surprise. Mathieu Flamini, minutes after coming on, picks up a yellow card for a tackle on Christian Eriksen. Now its a derby! 79′ - TREMENDOUS SAVE HUGO LLORIS! Cazorla lofts a ball into the box and it falls straight into the feet of Mertesacker. He turns and fires, but Lloris gets down so well to keep it out with a strong right hand! Incredible stuff from the Tottenham keeper. 77′ - Substitution Lukas Podolski Monreal (Arsenal Fc) 77′ - SURELY THATS A PENALTY? Jan Vertonghen all over Laurent Koscielny at the far post, draped over his back, and dragging him to ground at the vital moment. Mike Dean doesnt see enough to award a penalty, but it sure looked like one upon further review. That would have also meant a sending off for Jan Vertonghen. 76′ - Yellow Card - Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham) 76′ - Vertonghen goes in hard with a two- footed tackle on Santi Cazorla. The Belgian has to be more careful, as he will have to play the final 15 minutes on a yellow. 74′ - Townsends attacking throw is intercepted by Cazorla, as he surges forward with options. His ball for Podolski is poor, as possession is back the other way. This game is starting to be played in midfield at the moment, something we havent seen for a lot of the second half. 72′ - Danny Rose commits a foul now, and Arsenal send Mertesacker forward with a free kick in a good crossing position here. Artetas ball in cant pick out the central defender, but Naughton boots the ball up the pitch giving possession right back to the Gunners. 70′ - Arsenal just cant keep the ball. They cant pick out that first pass to kick start the counter. Theyre almost rushing these passes when they really ought to be slowing the pace and taking whats given to them. 68′ - Substitution Sandro Paulinho (Tottenham) 68′ - Substitution Nacer Chadli Gylfi Sigurdsson (Tottenham) 68′ - Substitution Tomas Rosicky Mathieu Flamini (Arsenal Fc) 68′ - Substitutions for both teams now as Paulinho and Sigurdsson come on for Sandro and Chadli. Arsenal turn to Flamini, as the goal scorer Rosicky is the one to give way. 66′ - Koscielny and Mertesacker are being put under a lot of pressure here, but dealing with it admirably. Tottenham are making much more of their possession than they did in the first half, but are still lacking that final touch. 64′ - ADEBAYOR! The Togo international gets on the end of a cross from Nacer Chadli, but bounces his header just wide! Koscielny was in with some strong defending to make it difficult enough for Adebayor. Paulinho and Sigurdsson warming up for Tottenham on the sidelines. 62′ - Arsenal keeping possession wonderfully in the attacking third, until a giveaway allows Townsend to push forward in possession for Tottenham. His cross flies over the head of Adebayor, however, and Arsenal get the ball back, doing what they can to slow the pace. 60′ - STAT ATTACK: After their Champions League round of 16 exit last year, Arsenal finished the season with eight wins and two draws in their final ten games, including a perfect 5-0 away from the Emirates. A similar string of results this year might just be enough for a chance at the title. 58′ - Giroud and Oxlade-Chamberlain work a give and go into the box but Rose does very well to block off the winger, allowing Lloris to come out and collect. 57′ - Cazorla plays in Podolski but Kaboul charges in to sniff out the chance. Thats the first real strong defensive play weve seen from a Spurs player so far today. The ensuing corner is just headed away, with Giroud waiting and hoping for it to fall to him. 56′ - Eriksen with a woeful ball into the box from a free kick about 40 yards out. He had men forward, but uncharacteristically sends it over everyone and out for a goal kick. 54′ - Tottenham looking much more lively in these opening 10 minutes. Arsenal will just look to slow the pace a bit here. They havent had a chance to break on the counter yet, where they were so dangerous in the first half. 52′ - SO CLOSE FOR TOTTENHAM! Townsend is played in on the right by Adebayor. He sends it across the face of goal, but Chadli cant turn it in with his back heel. Yet another chance goes begging for Tottenham! Tim Sherwood cant believe it. 50′ - STAT ATTACK: The Gunners are without a win in their past three Premier League away fixtures for the first time since November 2012. 48′ - Yellow Card - Sandro (Tottenham) 48′ - UNBELIEVABLE! Mayhem in the box as Szczesny spills a ball right to Chadli, but he cant capitalize as he sends his shot into Mertesacker from five yards out with Szczesny nowhere near his goal! 46′ - Arsenal kick off to get the second half underway, as the sun hides behind the walls at White Hart Lane, casting a shadow over the pitch. That should make life a little bit easier on defenders and goalkeepers throughout the second half. … - Arsene Wenger may hold out as long as possible as not to tamper with a winning formula, but Mathieu Flamini can provide Arsenal with some more stability in midfield over Rosicky as they look to see this one out through the final 45 minutes. Both wing backs are playing on a yellow for the Gunners, so Monreal and Jenkinson are both viable options as well for Wenger if he chooses to go in that direction. … - Tim Sherwood has plenty of options on the bench as he looks to get Tottenham back into this game. Aaron Lennon or Gilfy Sigurdsson may be preferred over Andros Townsend, who hasnt seemed capable of picking out a pass in the final third up to this point. Paulinho is another option to come on for his countryman Sandro to provide more of an attack presence from midfield. … - STAT ATTACK: Tomas Rosickys goal, after just 72 seconds, is the fastest ever scored by Arsenal against Tottenham in the Premier League. … - HALF-TIME: TOTTENHAM 0-1 ARSENAL. Tomas Rosicky put the Gunners in-front after just 72 seconds with his laser into the top corner. Totteham dominated in the possession category, at 62%, but dont have a single shot on target to show for it. Arsenal have made the most of their time on the ball, breaking down Tottenhams back four with ease on the counter, in typical Gunners fashion. 45′ + 1 - Yellow Card - Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal Fc) 45′ + 1 - Gibbs is shown a yellow card for a harsh challenge on Townsend. Eriksen whips in a cross from the ensuing free kick, but the towering Mertesacker is there to clear it away. Thats the final action of the first half as referee Mike Dean brings it to an end after one minute of added time. 45′ - Adebayor gets into a dangerous position, cutting in from the right, but he cant pick out Bentaleb on what would have been a real goal scoring opportunity. Tottenhams passing in the final third has been far too sloppy throughout the first half. 43′ - Vertonghen now livid with Chadli as a poor ball is played back towards the central defender, putting him under immense pressure from Oxlade- Chamberlain. 41′ - Chadli makes a nice run off the ball to receive a pass, and he charges at the Arsenal defence. His shot comes too early, as he sends it well wide of the far post. Wasted opportunity for Tottenham there. 39′ - Giroud, completely unmarked, is played in by Podolski. The Frenchman is fractions offside however, as the chance is blown dead. More worrying signs for Tottenham as two defenders committed to Podolski, leaving Giroud wide-open to receive a pass. 37′ - That could have been much worse for Arsenal. Eriksen plays Rose in down the left. Sagna, already on a yellow, charges in and makes an excellent tackle to dispossess the left-back. Mike Dean in a good position to make the correct call as he says play-on. 35′ - PODOLSKI! Gibbs plays in the German who beats Kaboul far too easily. He takes it a bit to far, however, and plays it into the side netting from a tough angle. Tottenham are being broken down time and time again here at the back. 33′ - Yellow Card - Nacer Chadli (Tottenham) 33′ - Nacer Chadli is shown a yellow card here for his challenge on Rosicky. Sandro isnt happy with the decision and he has some choice words for Mike Dean who calls captain Younes Kaboul over to have a word with the two players and settle things down a bit as we approach half-time. 32′ - Totteham really applying the pressure now. Arsenal on their heels at the moment. Bentaleb gets into the box but cant pick out a final pass. They break forward again in numbers, but Adebayors poor pass for Townsend slows the attack and Arteta is able to track back and intercept the final ball into the box. 30′ - Free kick from just outside the area for Tottenham. This isnt the ideal location for Eriksen, who would much rather have a go from the left side of goal. His curling effort is sent over the bar. 28′ - ADEBAYOR! End to end stuff at White Hart Lane! Townsend goes streaking down the right and sends a ball in for Adebayor, but his flick rolls just wide of the far post. Mertesacker did just enough with his challenge. 27′ - NEARLY A SECOND FOR ARSENAL! Podolski played through on the left and the Gunners are up in numbers on the counter. He tries to cut it back for Rosicky, but its just behind him. Oxlade- Chamberlain follows up with a shot but it deflects a few feet wide. Arsenal look so dangerous on the counter at the moment. 25′ - Sandro plays another great ball over the top for Adebayor. Again the striker cant make the most of it, as his flick flies miles over the bar. Still, its much more encouraging from Tottenham, who need to find some confidence any way they can. 24′ - Successive corners for Tottenham. Eriksens first delivery is superb, but Kaboul and Adebayor get in each others way and cant quite turn it onto goal. The second delivery from the former Ajax midfielder is poor and Arsenal are back in possession. 22′ - Yellow Card - Bacary Sagna (Arsenal Fc) 22′ - Sagna goes in hard on Danny Rose, in typical derby fashion. Mike Dean has something to think about here. He has a chat with the right-back and takes out a yellow card. Just a fraction late there from Sagna, as Rose goes flying through the air. 19′ - Some signs of life now from Tottenham as Townsend whips a low ball across the face of goal, but Adebayor cant connect with it. It comes out to Eriksen who tries a shot of his own but two Arsenal defenders are there to block and clear the danger. 17′ - Cazorla plays Giroud through now, but Lloris comes surging out of his box to head it away from danger. Tottenham are being completely exposed at the back. Tim Sherwood throws his jacket down in disgust as he watches on from the technical area. 15′ - HORRENDOUS MISS! Oxlade- Chamberlain takes a pass, rounds Bentaleb and is clean through on goal. As he streaks into the box his right footed effort flies miles wide of the target. He did everything right there, the Englishman, but crumbled at the vital moment. 14′ - Cazorla weaving his way through the midfield and plays a wonderful ball in for Podolski, but play is whistled dead on the offside. Replays would indicate the German may have been level with the last defender, but thats not how the linesman saw it. That should serve as a warning for Naughton who lost his man far too easily there. 12′ - STAT ATTACK: Tottenham have five losses and one draw in six matches against top four opposition, while being outscored 22-2 in those games. 10′ - Arsenal content to play on the counter early on here, and theyll be further encouraged to do so with this one goal lead. Tottenham with plenty of possession in the opening 10 minutes, but theyre not nearly clinical enough with their passing. 8′ - Scary moment here with Giroud down, face in hands, after taking a kick to the face from Jan Vertonghen. He looks to be alright, however, as play resumes with Giroud remaining on the pitch. 7′ - Eriksen whips in a free kick and he picks out Kaboul at the far post. The centre-back tries to head it back into the danger area, but Adebayor is called for a foul and Arsenal relieve the pressure. 5′ - Sandro picks out Adebayor with a lovely ball over the top. He was in behind the defence but couldnt bring the ball down to his feet. It almost looked as if he thought he was offside, as he lazily tried to control the pass. 3′ - It took Arsenal just 72 seconds to score the games first goal. Thats big for so many reasons. With the way things are going of late for Tottenham, that may just belly their spirits early on. Its exactly what Tim Sherwood and his Spurs squad couldnt afford to have happen. 2′ - Assist - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal Fc) 2′ - Goal - Tomas Rosicky (Arsenal Fc) GOAAAAAAAL! Unbelievable start! Arsenal break after a turnover, the Ox plays it out to Rosicky and he smacks it wonderfully into the top corner! Unstoppable. Dream start for the Gunners in enemy territory. 1′ - Tottenham kick- off and were underway! The home side sporting their white tops, moving from right to left, with the Gunners wearing their classic red kits. … - The players are taking to the pitch as we inch ever so close to kick-off! The atmosphere is tense at White Hart Lane, with the teams proximity in the standings adding to the many bragging rights already at stake. … - STAT ATTACK: Arsenal were victorious in both meetings between the teams this season, winning the reverse league fixture 1-0 in September and 2-0 in the third round of the FA Cup at the Emirates. … - Arsenals injury list is about as long as Peter Crouch at the moment. Mesut Ozil joins Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Kim Kallstrom and Abou Diaby on a lengthy absentee list. There is some good news for Arsene Wenger, however, as Keiran Gibbs, Nacho Monreal and Yaya Sanogo have all been deemed fit. … - ARSENAL SUBS: Fabianski, Vermaelen, Monreal, Jenkinson, Flamini, Gnabry, Sanogo. … - ARSENAL XI (4-2-3-1): Szczesny; Sagna, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Gibbs; Arteta, Rosicky; Oxlade- Chamberlain, Podolski, Cazorla; Giroud. … - Younes Kaboul won his appeal after picking up a red card against Chelsea, meaning he is available and in the starting XI. Thats welcome news for Tim Sherwood as he has to make do without Michael Dawson and Kyle Walker who are out injured. … - TOTTENHAM SUBS: Friedel, Walker, Lennon, Paulinho, Sigurdsson, Kane, Soldado. … - TOTTENHAM XI (4-5-1): Lloris; Naughton, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Rose; Townsend, Bentaleb, Sandro, Eriksen, Chadli; Adebayor. … - The teams have been announced, so let us have ourselves a look at todays starting line- ups: … - A few weeks ago Arsenal were in the midst of a tight title race. Now they sit out of the top three, looking over their shoulders at Tottenham who appear to be inching closer. A win today in the derby would go a long way in relieving the pressure on Arsene Wengers side, but it wont be easy with all the injuries. … - Tottenham failed to respond to Tim Sherwoods tongue lashing in their 3-1 Europa League defeat on Thursday. They’re running out of time in their quest for the top four, and Sherwood is beginning to feel the pressure. Their record against top four teams is putrid, and that was a point of emphasis for Sherwood following a 4-0 loss at Stamford Bridge last weekend. Anything but a win today would all but seal Tottenhams fate and end their hopes of playing Champions League football next season. … - Good afternoon Premiership fans around the world, and welcome to todays always fiercely contested North London Derby between Arsenal and Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
