Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Caen striker Lenny Nangis, - TopicsExpress

Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Caen striker Lenny Nangis, according to the player himself, but the 19-year-old is a long way away from the kind of forward Spurs need to buy this summer. Tottenham Hotspur’s much publicised need to sign a striker was always likely to see them connected with a large variety of names over the summer, and when players themselves start fashioning links with Spurs, it becomes even harder to separate fact from fiction. Caen striker Lenny Nangis has suggested that both Spurs and Everton are tracking his progress, with the 19-year-old mentioning the interest from Premier league clubs in passing before affirming his focus on his participation in the upcoming Under-19 European Championship in Lithuania. "I am very happy with my form so far and I am looking forward to the U19 tournament in Lithuania,” said Nangis. "There are English clubs interested and also top French clubs, but I am very happy at Caen at the moment. "Everton and Tottenham are top teams who make your head turn, but I need to focus on the upcoming championship." Nangis might well be scouted at the tournament in Lithuania, but it is fair to say that Tottenham Hotspur will need a more established player or two to bolster their strike force next season. The Caen player scored once in eight appearances in Ligue 2 last season, and with Harry Kane, Shaq Coulthirst and Souleymane Coulibaly already on the books in their youth academy, it would be surprising if Spurs wanted to sign another young striker this summer. The focus instead needs to be on improving their first team, with Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor both under par for much of last season. David Villa and Roberto Soldado are reportedly their top targets, although you can never rule out a Spurs move for Leandro Damiao in a transfer window. Nangis is a talented young player, but as he suggests himself, his focus should be on the upcoming Under-19 tournament. There will be plenty of scouts in Lithuania, and if Nangis excels, there will be plenty of speculation about his future without him fashioning links to other clubs himself.
