Tough fishing today on a run to Ship Island to fish the buoys. Winds and water conditions were excellent, but no cobia or bull redfish spotted today, except for one big cobia on the beach. We had the best of live bait, chum, and excellent anglers at the ready, but no opportunities to put all of those factors to work. The white trout and ground mullet bite was good if we would have worked on them this morning, we caught 50 or so on our way to the islands. Though the bite for big fish was off I was in excellent company with Dee Sipp, Tommy OKeefe, and Robert R. Culbertson. The super moon just wasnt good to us. And no Francis Brick we did not fish your giant triple tail spot! Lol Not this time! Fished a few places around Ship Island for pompano, but no luck. Oh well time to lick our wounds and get ready for the next adventure. Got boated by the United States Coast Guard today and passed a full inspection, and those young men and women were very nice if i might add. Back in the 70s during my charter boat days as a deckhand and captain I can still remember the late Capt. JP Trochesset calling a day like today...Bad Day At Black Rock. Funny how those things stick with you after so many years back. Time to regroup and get back to catching!
