Touring Washington D.C has been a childhood dream of mine. When I flew into Reagan National Airport last week for Todds arrival, I had NO idea it was so close to downtown D.C. Well, Ashlees phone was dead, and so was mine. So as we exit the airport, Im fumbling around trying to get phones charged to access a GPS, when ...... haaaaaalelujah ... I look up and right before my eyes is the Washington National Monument in all its nightly splendor. I nearly choked. Then I gasped. Then I was sad it was 2:30 in the morning and nothing was open. And then I gasped again. I may have also squealed like a little kid in Chucky Cheese, I dunno. Ask Ashlee. We had to drive around for a while to allow phones to charge, so we also saw the Lincoln Memorial, and we even came ohhhhh so close to the White House. We were ON Pennsylvania Avenue, but then the GPS directed us elsewhere. What a weird feeling to have a dream like that come true without any notice. I know Im a nerd, but just envision whatever your childhood dream is just suddenly appearing before your eyes with no notice. After a 11 hour, impromptu trip with a two year old. Its freakishly awesome! I need to go back for a real tour. Until then, my fuzzy phone pics that dont do justice must suffice.
