Traces of Texas reader Laura Greenwood kindly sent in these two photos, both of which relate to the fact that her father, Bill Mobley, was the head yell leader at Baylor back in the late 1940s. In the first photo, her dad can be seen third from left. The second one is the one that has the really interesting historical value. Its a kind of smack talk photo of SMUs backfield at that time and is notable for two reasons 1) it depicts the immortal Doak Walker and 2) it was written and sent to her dad by none other than Aaron Spelling, who was a yell leader at SMU at that time and who later went on to become the famous Hollywood producer, producing among other things The Mod Squad, Charlies Angels, Beverly Hills 90210 (starring his daughter Tori Spelling), The Love Boat, Sunset Beach etc.... He also built a 123 room mansion in Beverly Hills and died one of the worlds richest men. But little did he know when he wrote this what kind of amazing future awaited him. Thank you, Laura! I love both of them!
