Tracking some showers on the radar this afternoon. RAIN The showers and spotty thunderstorms with this frontal system will be nothing like the last 2-3 storm systems which brought heavy rainfall to the state. Rainfall amounts will vary from place to place, like on a summer day. While some communities may see .50, other places may only see a few hundreds of an inch or hardly any rain at all. The threat of showers will continue well into the evening hours before the showers shift into southeast Alabama, before exiting the state. SUNNY AND WARMER PATTERN: The air behind this weak front is not cooler. In fact, we have some very warm days to look forward to, especially tomorrow through the end of the week. Wednesday will be sunny and warm with a high at or just above 80. Thursday will be a little warmer, perhaps into the middle 80s, and Fridays high will be in the low to mid 80s. If you have been planning to work around the yard or the flower beds, the next few days should be just about perfect. LOOKING AHEAD: A weakening frontal system will arrive in the area around Friday. there could be a few spotty showers in the area by Friday evening, and perhaps a leftover shower or two Saturday, but really, the chance of rain with this frontal system will not be very impressive. We will keep the chance of rain very low, generally 20% or less. Meanwhile, highs will soar into the low to mid 80s Friday through Sunday. WEATHER RADIO PROGRAMMING: We are hitting the road again this week to program weather radios. Thursday, we will be at the Walgreens in Greenville, on the Greenville Bypass, from 10:30 to 2:30. Eric Snitil and others from our WSFA staff will be there to program your radios to alert you for your county when severe weather approaches. If you dont have a weather radio, you can buy one at a discount price, and we will program it. And, its a great chance to get a peak at our new Stormtracker 12 vehicle! We will see you in Greenville! --Rich Thomas, Doppler 12 StormVision Meteorologist Facebook: Rich Thomas WSFA Weather Twitter: RichThomasWSFA
