Trade unions’ sound and suitable advice has helped to make useful works and products, bringing about practical benefits and significance for agencies, units, enterprises, and laborers. Thanks to trade unions advice, Michigan Company has rebuilt its raw material warehouse favorable for vehicles to come in and out to load goods Labor power reduction Previously, the warehouse for raw and auxiliary materials for the production of Michigan Company (Chi Linh town, Hai Duong) was arranged inside its production workshop. This is a problem as impacts caused by transport of materials in and out on the working of workers. The warehouse in the workshop was too narrow for the transport to be handled by machinery, but mainly by physical labor, resulting in low productivity. Facing this reality, the company’s trade union in early 2014 advised the executive board to consider building an outside storage area for raw and auxiliary materials. “Levels of trade union in the province for the past five years have encouraged workers, civil servants, and laborers to undertake hundreds of high-quality works and products. Honor Plates have been appended to 27 works with an investment value of over VND700 billion by the Vietnam General Labor Confederation and provincial trade union levels.” Realizing that this would bring about many benefits for production, so the leaders of Michigan Company listened and decided to invest in constructing a new warehouse. Late last May, the newly-built storage area, covering over 1,200m2 (worth close to VND3 billion), was completed and put into operation. “Since the new warehouse came on stream, it has helped increase the company’s production efficiency while decreasing much physical power of workers and laborers (WL) in this section as the forklift vehicles can finally be used,” said Mr. Mac Dinh Tu, Chairman of the Company’s Trade Union. Workers identify themselves with business Only after visiting the nursery area of ShinTS – BVT Co., Ltd. (Hai Duong city) will you understand why WL there feel secure to identify themselves with the company. More than 100 two – five-year-old children whose parents are WL are carefully looked after until their parents finish their work shifts. The children can play in a spacious and clean nursery area, including a two-storey classroom building around 200m2 in area, a playground covering over 1,000m2 with ferris wheel, chutes, imitation animals, etc. installed, and an airy garden of many ornamentals. The entire cost for main meals and and collations (on the days workers are requested to work overtime) is completely funded by the company. The nursers taking care of the children are often attended training for better childcare skills. The nursery model at ShinTS – BVT Company has existed since the very first days of the company’s establishment in 2006. However, the nursery only undertook the care of fewer than 30 children at that time. Later, because the company expanded its production scale, the number of WL rose higher and higher and their demand for childcare was also greater. In 2011, the trade union gave advisory to the company’s leaders to fund for construction, upgrading, and expansion of the nursery area. At present, though the area has gone into stable operation, the trade union still regularly inspects the rearing of children and supports the nursers and kindergarteners with gifts on the occasions of holidays, New Years, etc. ShinTS – BVT is considered as the business with best WL treatment regimes in the province on support policies for their children of preschool age. Chairman of the Company’s Trade Union Bui Duc Bong said over the past time, the company has attracted a lot of laborers and created a working environment that laborers identify themselves for long-term and reduction of frequent recruitment and training new workers, which can affect production. Thereby, the company is increasingly growing, and WL are also entitled to many welfare regimes significantly higher than many other places, steady income, and assured life. On the recent occasion of celebrating the 85th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28) alone, trade union levels in the province encouraged members and laborers to actively undertake five typical works, including: - a feeder road of 2.6km from Ba Hang interchange to national highway 37 with a total investment value of over VND86 billion (by the transport sector’s trade union); - LED decoration lights along Ho Chi Minh avenue and Hoang Hoa Tham street (Hai Duong city) worth a total of around VND5 billion (by Hai Duong city’s trade union); - the warehouse of Michigan Co., Ltd. (Chi Linh) worth a total of nearly VND3 billion; - a system supplying centralized safe water to Bac Ninh province and Kinh Mon 2 Senior High School with a total investment of VND48.5 billion (by the construction sector’s trade union); - the “Connection of Hai Duong television waves into Vinasat 2 network” project to ensure on-the-air time of the provincial Radio and Television Station (the provincial civil servants’ trade union).
