Traffic ALERT! Lake County Road 2, more familiarly known as the road up to the Black Cloud Mine, is currently closed after a sink hole was reported this afternoon about 4:30 by a cyclist coming down off the Mineral Belt Trail. The road damage is visible about a half mile west of the Yak Water Treatment Plant. The hole might not appear to be big from the top – about two feet in diameter – but according to Lake County Road and Bridge crews the hole underneath the asphalt is at least 15 ft x 15 ft. The road is closed to traffic and at present the crews are waiting for a utilities locate before they start digging. It was reported that the sensors have been activated in the Yak Tunnel system, therefore officials are unsure if that sink hole is connected with the water treatment plant system. Be advised that County Rd 2 is likely to be closed at least the next 24 hours. We’ll keep you posted!
