Traffic to be diverted onto new KY 15 alignment in Breathitt County on Tuesday, Sept. 10 JACKSON, KY – On Tuesday, Sept. 10 at approximately 12 p.m., traffic is scheduled to be diverted onto the new alignment of KY 15 in Breathitt County. Two-way traffic will be maintained in the northbound lanes of the four-lane highway, while the tie-in from the existing southbound lanes of the four-lane portion of the road to the new segment is under construction. Once that transition is complete, all four lanes will be opened and final paving will occur to finish the project. Southbound motorists on KY 15 should be aware of a traffic pattern change near the northern limits of the project. In addition, the new traffic signal at the intersection of new KY 15 and existing KY 15/KY 30 will become active at that time. It has been flashing for the past few weeks. Appropriate signage will be in place to direct through traffic onto the new portion of KY 15. A speed limit of 45 mph will be in effect on the new road until construction is complete. Work is scheduled to be finished by the end of this year.
