Tragic news! Just saw on a news website that bacon may soon be a thing of the past because of a deadly virus that has killed millions of pigs. If the fatal sickness, porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) cant be controlled soon its likely there will be no bacon on the grocers shelves by the end of spring, according to the USDA. So far, there is no known cure for PEDV. So, better stock up now or get used to turkey bacon or worse, no bacon.
