Feb. 22, 2015 Information at motoramaevents For Immediate Release October 4, 2014 GENE KNAUB CLAIMS 358 LATE MODEL PORTION OF “THUNDER ON THE FARM”; MATT WAMPLER VICTOR IN STREET STOCKS; CORY WEISHAAR TAKES LIMITED STOCKS Hanover, PA (10/04/14) – Gene Knaub added an exclamation point to a tremendous 2014 racing season by winning both the “Thunder on the Farm” 40-lap feature event and the season-long Precise Racing Products Trail-Way/Lincoln points championship on Saturday night at Trail-Way Speedway. Knaub started on the front row and led every lap despite eight caution flags that placed polesitter Travis Mease on his back bumper every time. “Sometimes you draw the right pill, and sometimes you don’t,” said Knaub upon exiting his Superior Homes/382 Auto Sales/ Route 30 Seafood #1 in victory lane, “That was pretty eventful. These cars are so equal, and this track was the slickest one I’ve been on since I’ve raced late models here.” “But it’s great to put this win and the Precise Racing Products title on my resume,” continued Knaub, the all-time late model winner at Trail-Way. Knaub’s race-winning pass came in turn two of the opening lap. Mease ran second the entire way, crossing 2.47 seconds behind the winner. Third through fifth were eighth-starting Shaun Jones, J.R. Rodriguez (who started third, went to the rear after a four-car accident in turn two of lap 21, and then came back up through), and 11th-starting John Moser. Completing the top eight were Tommy Slanker, 15th-starting and hard charger Tyler Horst, Charles Potts. Credited with ninth and tenth were Cam Zeigler and Jake Moser. Heats for the 16 “358” late models, completed before the rains came Friday night, were won by Sam Gallagher and Mease. Dover’s Matt Wampler started on the pole and led every lap of the 25-lap street stock feature, but his win wasn’t easy, either. Wampler received race-long pressure from several drivers during the course of the event. First it was fellow front-row starter Brian Rehbein, who ran second the first eight laps, and then it was fifth starting Michael Goodwin, who was scored second from laps ninth through 20 before hitting the outside wall and turning the runner-up spot over to tenth-starting and track champ Dan Furman. Furman, the event’s hard charger, crossed a carlength behind the winner. Third through fifth were ninth-starting Eric Johnson, Goodwin, and Rehbein. Friday night qualifying winners for the 16 street stocks were Craig Wagaman and Wampler. Cory Weishaar started eighth, took the lead from Ricky Weaver, Jr. on lap eight, and drove away to the win in the 18-lap limited stock feature. Terry Hartlaub and hard charger Matt Chronister (who started 23rd) both got by Weaver on the last two turns to finish second and third, with Weaver and 12th-starting Shannon Weaver rounding out the top five. Friday night heat winners for the 25 limited stocks were won by Shannon Weaver, Ricky Weaver, Jr., and Weishaar. Trail-Way Speedway will host the 12th Annual “Kart Klassic” on Saturday, October 18th. Gates open at 7 a.m. and racing begins at 12 noon. The raindate will be the next day, Sunday, October 19th.
