Trainer Peter Snowden has confirmed that Proisir has been retired from racing after suffering yet another tendon injury, reports horseracing.au. He has gone to the breeding barn, Snowden told RSNs Racing Ahead yesterday. We had another issue with his tendon again. He was coming along extremely well and I was really excited about him, but he has gone to the breeding barn. Proisir began his career in the care of Gai Waterhouse and announced himself as a genuine Gr1 contender when recording a dominant 6-length victory in the Gr3 Spring Stakes (1600m) at Newcastle. He then suffered his first defeat when upset by Its A Dundeel as a short-priced favourite in the Gr1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Royal Randwick before finishing a creditable eighth in the Cox Plate behind Ocean Park. The talented son of Choisir then resumed in the autumn of 2013 finishing third in the Gr2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m), but his campaign ended prematurely when he finished runner-up again to Its A Dundeel in the Gr1 Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m) when suffering his first tendon injury. The 5YO was transferred to Peter Moody but suffered a second tendon injury which virtually ended his career, but connections decided to give him a third and final chance to resurrect his career with the Snowden yard. Proisir retires with 3 wins and 3 placings from 7 starts for $489,630 earnings.
