Training refugees from Congo, Burundi,Ethiopia Tanzania and Rwanda on peace building and conflict transformation. The refugees have taught me more about the need for peace than any book or professor would. each persons story is different, their pain too personal too deep and sealed in their heats, Yet they are hopeful that they will one time go home, that they will one time experience peace, that one time the will not be judged by the origin of their country. Their journey was not only long, but dangerous, tiring and painful. Though the smile, laugh, love the wound are very fresh a story of Africa in Pain, Africa weeping Africa against itself. Lets make peace, love one another Africa Unite Refugee problems may often seem intractable but they are not insoluble. In our experience there are two basic prerequisites for solution: the political will of leaders to tackle the causes and to settle for peace, and international determination to push for peace and then to consolidate it. Consolidating peace means helping societies emerging from war to reintegrate refugees in safety and dignity, to rebuild their institutions - including in the field of justice and human rights - and to resume their economic development.- Sadako Ogata, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, 1990-2000
