Trains seem to be a popular topic at present, but economic models show they simply wont work with Canterburys low population and diverse work centres in Christchurch - people wont take a train and then bus when a car is so much quicker. They are effective in dense population centres only. I think it is better to be upfront and honest with people now - I believe trains will not be an affordable transport solution for any person who is currently of working age - so we need to look for other options.
