Tramore Town Council has held its last ever meeting, after 66 years in existence. Following the local elections later this month, all 80 town councils will be abolished, including Tramore, Lismore and Dungarvan councils. The last meeting at the Civic offices was attended by past and present councillors, who received presentations of Waterford Crystal pieces from Town Clerk John OSullivan. Mayor Blaise Hannigan paid tribute to the eight sitting councillors who he said have contributed to the community of Tramore in many different and important ways. He says the council meetings have been held in various establishments all over the town, but the civic offices should be kept on for public useHe says there are dozens of community groups in Tramore who need to speak with one voice after the amalgamation
