Issued at 2:14 pm Saturday, 16 November 2013. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:15 pm, very dangerous thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Maroochydore and Beenleigh. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. Very dangerous thunderstorms are forecast to affect Jacobs Well and Russell Island by 2:45 pm. Other severe thunderstorms were located near the area north of Noosa Heads and Lake Cooloola. Damaging winds and very large hailstones are likely. Tennis Ball sized hail reported from Buderim. Very large hail reported from at Mooloolah, Maroochydore and Greenbank. Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 3:15 pm. A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Capricornia, Southeast Coast and parts of the Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.
