Transport Controller (SA Metal Group) The Job Box - Gauteng Contract SA Metal Group Elandsfontein has a position for a committed, hardworking and motivated Transport Controller to work within the Logistics Department at the Elandsfontein branch. The successful applicant will report directly to the Logistics Manager. Responsibilities: Accurate planning and efficient usage of resources Coordinate the utilization, load planning and booking of trucks Data capturing and updating the system License, COF and permit management Responsible for upkeep of image by enforcing minimum standards with regard to customer service, driver presentation & vehicle cleanliness. Ensure that Health and Safety procedures are followed Ensure trucks and drivers are tracked and recorded, initiate driver discipline and adherence to company policies and procedures. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines and outputs Manage the efficient planning/routing of vehicles and efficient use /application of trailers Manage the correct application of vehicles to jobs Develop systems to monitor, manage and report various functions Applicants must have the following qualifying criteria: Transport Qualification and/or 3 years’ experience. Must have a valid, unendorsed Code 8 license. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals Directly responsible for maintaining an efficient cost effective fleet Ability to communicate and interact with different types of customers Great analytical skills and accuracy with figures Excellent project management skills Ability to use own initiative, negotiate and good organizing skills Experience in Excel, Word & Outlook Good administrative skills with clear and legible handwriting Trustworthy & Honest Ability to apply discipline to ensure operational procedures are followed Excellent time management skills Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Afrikaans Willing to work overtime As the Transport Controller you must have the ability to motivate a team in order to achieve goals. You will be required to be vigilant and to manage your drivers so as to guard against damage to property, injury to employees and customer satisfaction. A firm approach to ensuring that all Safety Regulations be adhered to is expected from the successful candidate.
