Transportation of goods to high altitude locations in Uttaranchal and Uttarkand involves use of mules and humans. The main problem is the lack of quality roads and the geographical terrain that makes it difficult to lay roads and maintain them. Design a load carrying unit that helps a human or a mule carry two times their weight. Provide a clear sketch. This equipment should pose minimal stress and strain to the cartilage and ribs and be functional. Address design criteria and logical choices for your design. I would like you to think about how you might design a road for this terrain (materials, stability etc.), assuming the road can be built someday. Do address the role of your IITM & IITM Chemical Engineering training in the first 5 semesters towards this position.
