Transversal Theater Company is making a short film (15 minutes) - TopicsExpress

Transversal Theater Company is making a short film (15 minutes) called Winsome Rites, about two girls (eight and nine years old) struggling with issues that lead one of them to contemplate suicide and the other to help them both understand what’s at stake, for which we are trying to raise money on Kickstarter: kickstarter/projects/767716106/help-us-make-winsome-rites. The film is suspenseful, fast-paced, and heartfelt. Please see the attached script. We were inspired to make the film because suicide by children has been on the rise in the United States and other countries. Please see the following selection of links for more information about child suicide: Child Suicide: childsuicide.homestead/ The Compassionate Friends: compassionatefriends.org/Brochures/surviving_your_childs_suicide.aspx Suicide Awareness Voices of Education save.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.viewPage&page_id=1 Childline UK: childline.org.uk/Pages/Home.aspx Kids Help Phone Canada: kidshelpphone.ca/Teens/Home.aspx Kids Help Australia: kidshelp.au/ Child Alert UK: childalert.co.uk/ To Write Love on Her Arms: twloha/ With Winsome Rites we hope to raise awareness about child suicide. I will be directing the film. My daughter Sky will be playing one of the leads. Joel Veenstra is producing. And we have assembled a wonderful team of experienced television and filmmakers to help bring the project to successful fruition. Our goal is to show the film at festivals worldwide. Any amount of support, even $25, would be a great help to us. Our goal on Kickstarter is $10,000 (kickstarter/projects/767716106/help-us-make-winsome-rites), and if we do not reach it, we do not receive any of the donated money (the money is returned to the donators). Our total budget for the film is $20,000. We all support different causes and we do this in our own ways, and I respect this. Thank you for considering supporting Winsome Rites! With best wishes, Bryan
