Trapped in a Laundry Room: The most frightening fact about this narrative is that it is a more recent incident than the previous ones. It was at end of the 2013 when a third engineer from Pakistan experienced something horrifying in a container ship that he will never forget. The daily routines in the ship were predictable and as the winter winds were biting through the skins of the sailors the night watches became all the more painful. The narrator being a third engineer had the night watch in the engine rooms stretching from 12 in the night to 4 in the morning. The ship was on its regular routine, sailing firmly in the middle of the ocean. But on the very night the regularity got disrupted because of something which became a constant nightmare for the seaman. He was two hours into his watch when he decided to take his boiler-suit out from the laundry room. But just as he entered the room he confronted a clearly visible figure of a Filipino seaman staring right at him with a petrifying smile on his face. Knowing that the ship was only boarded by Indian and Pakistani seamen the Third Engineer was shocked and frightened. He shouted and called for other members of the crew and they also saw the same thing…a Filipino seaman standing still with his eyes filled with vengeance. It took a minute for the crew members present there to realize that the Filipino is not actually human being but rather a spirit trapped in the laundry room. Eventually the bosun of the ship also came and saw the figure and recognized the figure to be of one of the earlier crew members who hanged himself mercilessly in the laundry room few years back. Since then no one dared to enter the laundry room and it was closed for ever… Shared from a Maritime Blog..!!
