Travel arrangements have been finalized - will be heading to the University of Hawaii-Manoa for the 21st meeting of the Austronesian Formal Linguistics Association next month. Ill attend a classmates talk as well as the talks of fellow Austronesian linguists whose research Ive long been reading! The conference is 3 days, we will be spending the other 3 or 4 exploring Honolulu and the rest of the island of Oahu. Will also be meeting up with longtime friend Kalani Mondoy, a native speaker of Hawaiian Creole, who will be visiting from the LA & will show me Hawaiian Creole spoken in the wild. And if Im really lucky, perhaps Hawaiian itself. Woot, Im totes stoked!
