Travelin With Trini (TWT): Daughter Kelly and Mark called and invited us to share Thanksgiving dinner with them at Mark’s Aunt’s house. So Trini and I left Incline at 7 30 AM Tuesday to drive to the Seattle area. Somewhere between Susanville and Mt Shasta I realized that I missed the only rest stop until I-5 and I had to hold it for over an hour. I was in pain when we got to a Rest Stop which got worse when nothing would come out. I made all the Rest Stops to Roseburg, OR. Now I was in real pain like I have never experienced before! By 8 30 PM It occurred to me that I was in real trouble and I went down to the motel check in counter and was told that a hospital was only 6 blocks away. I checked myself into the Emergency Room and they fitted me with a catheter and bag. The relief was amazing. I had 610 milliliters of liquid trapped in my bladder. That’s 2 ½ cups! Twice the normal amount. The bad news was that I had to wear the bag until I got home and saw an expert. Over night, I thought it over and decided to drive home and skip the trip to Seattle. Having to empty the bag in someone else’s home and wear it in public plus driving the extra 800 miles seems too much to bear. I called Kelly, made my apologies and drove home on Wed. I got back early enough to see my local Doctor and he made an appointment with an Urologist on Tuesday for me. I went home and hunkered down. I called one of my neighbors and asked John to call me once a day to make sure I was OK. He agreed to do so. On Thanksgiving I received a call from John and Phyllis and was invited to TG dinner at three. I was apprehensive but finally agreed bag and all! I worked out a way to wear comfortable clothes and walked the 200 feet down the drive way to their home. The 3 of us shared a great meal and I enjoyed the company of my wonderful neighbors and friends. They sent me home with leftovers and I thanked them profusely. I’m not in any real pain just the uncomfort of a foreign tube up my privates. Trini and I have settled in and I plan to watch a lot of sports this long week end.
